Students, faculty and staff interested in the history of nursing: Please join us for the third installment of our growing book club.

This time we'll discuss Curing Queers: Mental nurses and their patients, 1935–74 by Tommy Dickinson, which “examines the plight of men who were institutionalized in British mental hospitals to receive ‘treatment’ for homosexuality and transvestism, and the perceptions and actions of the men and women who nursed them.”

The book is available for free download through the UIC Library as a series of PDFs through JSTOR.
