Alumni, students enjoy time together

Nearly 70 UIC College of Nursing students, alumni, faculty and staff gathered at Larkin Hall in Chicago's West Loop on March 15 for an evening of networking and camaraderie at the 2018 Alumni & Student Reception.

Attendees got a chance to mingle, hear news from the college, and enjoy appetizers and drinks from Blue Plate Catering, which is based in the state-of-the-art event hall.

Dean Terri Weaver spoke about new faculty research, student accomplishments and community work, an ambitious $33 million fundraising goal for the college, and the next alumni reunion on Oct. 13. Alumni Board President Patricia Lewis encouraged students, alumni and faculty to embrace the spirit of giving.

"It is always wonderful to see alumni and current students come together at this event," Weaver says. "It's an opportunity for the past to mingle with the present. Alumni recall their lives as students, while students get a chance to meet the living reminders of the reason they chose the nursing profession."
