Qualifications for tenure and non-tenure track ranks: All candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate degree at appointment. The three domains of teaching, practice/service and scholarship/research reflect exemplars of performance, dissemination, facilitation and leadership.

Tenured and Tenure Track

The tenure track in the UIC College of Nursing is for individuals whose primary responsibilities center on scholarship in the areas of teaching and research in the context of influencing nursing practice and health care.

Tenure track faculty are also expected to demonstrate involvement in service.

Clinical Track

The clinical faculty appointment (non-tenurable) in the UIC College of Nursing is for individuals whose predominant scholarship is teaching and practice in the context of influencing nursing practice and health care.

Clinical faculty practice includes diverse roles of educator, clinician, researcher, consultant and administrator either through direct or indirect professional services. Clinical faculty are expected to maintain expertise in their respective practice areas. Research and service will vary for clinical faculty commensurate with their percent of time allocated to the college.
