Download iCal FileFaculty, alumni, students, staff and friends are invited to join Dean Terri E. Weaver, PhD, RN, FAAN, ATSF, and the Department of Biobehavioral Health Science as we invest Ardith Z. Doorenbos as Nursing Collegiate Professor.
Dr. Doorenbos is internationally recognized for her contributions to the science of palliative care, oncology, and pain and symptom management. In addition to her position as professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Health Science, she is director of palliative care at the University of Illinois Cancer Center. She came to the University of Illinois system and the College of Nursing in 2018 as one of the first seven scholars recruited via the President’s Distinguished Faculty Hiring Program. Dr. Doorenbos’ research includes examining paths to minimizing the use of opioids to manage pain. With career research funding of more than $40 million, much of it from NIH, and a sustained record of more than 150 peer-reviewed publications in journals of nursing and multiple other disciplines, it is not surprising that Dr. Doorenbos was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2018.
