Students gave their all on Giving Tuesday
Nearly 700 donors across UIC raised $117,928 during Giving Tuesday 2017, which fell on Nov. 28 this year. Of those 700 donors, 171 were from the UIC Nursing community; 100 of those were students.
The College of Nursing closed the day ahead of all other UIC units in terms of both dollars raised and number of donors. Donors contributed $26,643, triple the dollars raised in 2016 and double the number of donors who participated in 2016. Donors directed their gifts toward student scholarships, faculty resources, and facilities, including the college's future simulation lab.
"I was inspired to see and feel the UIC Nursing community--students, faculty and staff--join together to advance the mission of our fine college with meaningful financial support," says Dean Terri E. Weaver. "I'm grateful to everyone who took part."
Donations will support UIC Nursing's goals within IGNITE: The Campaign for UIC, which aims to contribute $33 million to the campuses overarching goal to raise $750 million over five years.
"Giving Tuesday demonstrates the tremendous collective power of giving at UIC," says Jeff Nearhoof, vice chancellor for advancement. "We've shown that participation matters and that all gifts can make an impact."
