Hannah Choi is a full-time nursing PhD student and a research coordinator at the UIC College of Nursing. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Yonsei University, South Korea, in 2018 and worked as an oncology ward nurse at Severance Hospital Cancer Center from 2018 to 2020. During this time, she developed a strong interest in the biological and social mechanisms underlying symptoms in cancer survivors, with the goal of advancing personalized symptom management and reducing health disparities. Motivated to become a nurse researcher and symptom scientist, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Yonsei University in 2022. She is a member of the Midwest Nursing Research Society, Sigma Theta Tau International Alpha Lambda Chapter, Oncology Nursing Society, and the Global Korean Nursing Foundation.
Her research focuses on two main areas: (1) identifying biosocial drivers of treatment response (symptom relief) in breast cancer survivors, and (2) developing clinical decision support models to improve symptom management.
