After earning his bachelor’s degree in Thailand in 2015, Thanakrit Jeamjitvibool worked as a registered nurse in the medical-surgical ward, primarily caring for Thai Buddhist monk patients at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, as well as in the Hemodialysis Center at Bumrungrad Hospital. He completed his master’s degree in gerontological nursing at the Ramathibodi School of Nursing in 2019. During this time, he developed skills as a clinical nursing researcher by creating clinical nursing practice guidelines aimed at promoting evidence-based practice and improving the quality of care in clinical settings.
His professional interests focus on self-care among older adults with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), particularly chronic kidney disease (CKD). The long-term goal of his research is to improve and prevent CKD by promoting self-care among older Thai adults with cardiometabolic diseases. The findings from his research program have implications for developing interventions to enhance self-care behaviors, prevent CKD—which is considered a terminal stage of cardiometabolic illness—and improve quality of life among older adults living with these conditions.
