About
Tracey received her BSN from Lewis University and began her nursing career in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn. She attended graduate school at UIC and obtained her MSN as a pediatric nurse practitioner, with a primary care certification. Since graduation she has continued to work at Advocate Children's Hospital as a nurse practitioner in the PCICU and cardiology service line. She completed a post-masters Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus in pediatric acute care at UIC. Additionally, she functions as the Advanced Practice Development Coordinator at Advocate Children's Hospital, where she supports onboarding and orientation, advanced practice mentorship, ongoing education, and coordinates the Transition to Practice Program.
She is also actively involved in the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), and currently serves on the board as secretary.
Tracey remains incredibly passionate about pediatric nursing and has been fortunate enough to share her knowledge and enthusiasm at UIC as a clinical instructor for the pre-licensure students in years past, as well as with the acute and primary care pediatric nurse practitioner students. She currently functions as the Pediatric Acute and Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Specialties for the DNP programs at UIC. Areas of clinical and educational interest include a focus on simulation-based learning to apply knowledge to practice, student engagement furthering teaching opportunities, and clinical pathway formulation and evaluation.
