About
Dr. Eileen Collins is a Professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Health Science and Associate Dean for Research for the UIC College of Nursing. Previously, she was a Research Career Scientist and Acting Associate Chief of Staff for Research & Development at the Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital. Her research focuses on improving physical function and quality of life through cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation interventions. She has been continually funded for over 20 years by organizations such as NIH, VA and various foundations. Dr. Collins has published over 80 papers in peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Collins teaches the Measurement and Evidence Based Practice courses for the College. Dr. Collins is very active in professional organizations serving on the Boards of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). She is a Fellow of the ATS, AACVPR and the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Collins was recently inducted into the International Nurse Researchers Hall of Fame.
