Program Requirements

The College of Nursing PhD degree requires a minimum of 96 semester hours: 32 semester hours earned in the prior master’s degree and 64 semester hours in the core courses, advanced courses and independent research earned in the doctoral program (48 semester hours must be taken at UIC).

Program plan structures depends primarily on whether the student is entering with a baccalaureate or master's degree. Faculty advisors create individual plans with each student upon admission into the program. See sample program requirements for each scenario below.
