Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee
The Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee (APT) is comprised of eleven (11) elected faculty members from tenure and non-tenure tracks. The committee formulates, reviews, and recommends criteria relating to faculty appointment, promotion, and tenure, and advises faculty, department heads, and the Dean on appointments, promotion and tenure, and faculty emeritus status.
Academic Programs Evaluation Committee
The Academic Programs Evaluation Committee (APEC) is comprised of six (6) elected faculty members, one (1) undergraduate student representative, and one (1) graduate student representative. APEC oversees the implementation and continuous monitoring of the college of nursing’s evaluation plan including key elements, evaluation processes/methods, responsible parties, frequency of evaluation, outcomes, documentation and actions resulting in consultation with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and ultimately reporting the outcomes of the evaluation to the faculty.
Curriculum Committee
The Curriculum Committee is comprised of six (6) elected faculty members, one (1) undergraduate student representative, and one (1) graduate student representative. This committee formulates, reviews, and recommends to the faculty statements of philosophy, conceptual frameworks, curricular objectives, and potential curricular revisions. Curriculum Committee also reviews and approves new elective courses and provides a cumulative annual report, reviews and makes recommendations biannually on the pre-licensure, advanced practice, and PhD core courses, and reviews and makes recommendations on all educational training grants prior to submission.
Equity & Inclusion Committee
The Equity and Inclusion Committee (formerly known as the Diversity Committee) is comprised of eight (8) elected faculty members, which must include one (1) representative from each regional campus. The Equity and Inclusion Committee establishes goals and strategies for the college that align with the college’s diversity strategic plan, cultivate and maintain a more diverse body of students, faculty, and staff, and develop and review benchmarks and collects data to ensure goals are being met. This committee develops diversity forums and trainings for faculty, staff, and students and collaborate with all college units to ensure alignment with the college’s diversity strategic plan.
Faculty Executive Committee
The Faculty Executive Committee is comprised of seven (7) elected faculty members, which includes the Faculty Chairperson. The Faculty Executive Committee advises the Dean on the formulation and execution of policies and other academic matters, consult with the Dean on the preparation of the college budget, act on behalf of the faculty during recesses or emergencies, and transact such business as may be delegated to it by the faculty. The committee also reviews the college bylaws annually and recommends any applicable changes, as well as reviewing and approving standing rules and operating policy and procedure as proposed by standing committees.
Graduate Admissions & Academic Standards
The Graduate Admissions and Academic Standards Committee is comprised of five (5) elected faculty members who are members of the Graduate College. This committee implements admissions procedures as defined by the Graduate College and/or college of nursing policies, develops and recommends student admissions procedures to the Graduate College and/or the college of nursing, and reviews applications for pre-licensure and post-licensure nursing programs and makes admission recommendations. The Graduate Admissions and Academic Standards Committee also reviews the academic standing and progression of pre-licensure and post-licensure nursing students and implements procedures as necessary and defined by the Graduate College and/or college of nursing.
Undergraduate Admissions & Academic Standards
The Undergraduate Admissions and Academic Standards Committee is comprised of seven (7) elected faculty members with at least one (1) from each region providing baccalaureate education. This committee develops and recommends admission and progression policies and procedures to the faculty, reviews applications to the baccalaureate program and make admission/denial decisions, and reviews student academic standing each term and enacts decisions based on college and university policies. The Undergraduate Admissions and Academic Standards Committee will communicate committee decisions to the appropriate person or office, which may include the student, the advisor, course coordinators, regional directors, and OAESS.
Research Committee
The Research Committee is comprised of seven to eight (7-8) elected faculty members, and one (1) DNP student and one (1) PhD student as selected by the Graduate Student Organization. This committee establishes and implements criteria for distribution of funds allocated faculty and student research activities and collaborates with the Associate Dean for Research on the evaluation of the research productivity of the research centers and core laboratories in the college. The Research Committee advises the Associate Dean for Research and the Dean on matters pertaining to research enrichment and suggest measures for ongoing facilitation of research productivity for faculty and students.
Scholarship & Awards Committee
The Scholarship & Awards Committee is comprised of six (6) elected faculty members. This committee reviews and awards annually college of nursing scholarships and awards, collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Advancement in the stewardship of donates scholarships/awards and solicitation of additional funding for scholarships and awards, and creates strategies to promote increases awareness of internal and external scholarship opportunities.
Annual faculty elections for standing committees Heading link
Elections for standing committees are held annually during the 1st half of the spring semester. Faculty will be asked to submit their willingness to serve prior to the creation of the election ballot. Both the willingness to serve and the election ballot will be distributed electronically. Faculty are encouraged to review the vacancies and the applicable requirements, as well as their current faculty workload, before submitting a willingness to serve on any standing committee. Terms are for two (2) years unless otherwise indicated, and eligible faculty may not serve more than three (3) consecutive terms on any one committee. Please note that faculty who are enrolled as a student in a graduate or professional program are ineligible to serve.
