The aim is to help faculty develop competencies in AACN New Essentials (2021) (Domain 5 Quality and Safety) to gain confidence mentoring QI DNP projects.
Details:
- Kiana L. Player, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, associate chief nursing officer, UIH, will discuss current quality initiatives and strategic priorities for the organization.
- Linda L. Fahey, DNP '12, RN, CENP, adjunct clinical assistant professor, will describe how to identify impactful quality improvement projects.
- College of Nursing faculty with quality and safety expertise will lead the workshop.
Faculty mentors responding to a survey in April 2022 requested to learn more about quality improvement (QI) DNP projects.
In the workshop, faculty will learn how to:
- Identify healthcare problems that impact quality, patient harm and financial outcomes;
- Describe how to help students lead an analysis of a problem that would impact quality and safety;
- Identify three charts commonly used to measure quality outcomes;
- Recall the three questions in the Model for Improvement;
- Recognize evidence-based interventions to mitigate risk; and
- Describe resources for implementation and sustaining change for the QI DNP project.
