To provide an overview of dementia to generalist Nurses & Advance Practice Registered Nurses, how it presents in older adults and treatment options pharmacologic and non pharmacologic that are currently available.
Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate between normal memory changes associated with aging versus memory changes associated with dementia.
- Describe medications currently in use for treatment of dementia.
- Name several non-pharmacologic interventions that can be helpful in managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.

This course meets the State of Illinois CE requirement that went into effect in January 2024 for Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who provide services to and have direct patient interaction with adults 26 years of age and older.
