The Memorial Health System Nursing Scholarship for BSN students at the Springfield Campus is now open! Current and prospective BSN students at UIC Nursing–Springfield, who will be enrolled full-time for the 2025-26 academic year, are eligible to apply.

Recipients will receive $15,000 for the 2025-26 academic year, distributed equally between the fall and spring semesters. Details regarding scholarship eligibility and application are below. Scholarships are limited, so all current and prospective UIC Nursing–Springfield BSN students are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline of Feb. 3.

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing Springfield campus will award the Memorial Health System Scholarships to prelicensure, undergraduate nursing students on an annual basis. This scholarship is designed to continue throughout the student’s prelicensure, undergraduate nursing academic career. Recipients will receive half the scholarship funding in fall semester and half in spring semester of the award year.

To apply for this scholarship, students must have applied to the BSN Program at the UIC Nursing Springfield campus for Fall 2025. Students will be eligible for the UIC Springfield scholarship during their time in the BSN program.  Qualifying criteria for students to retain funding until graduation from the prelicensure, undergraduate nursing program include:

Academic success

  • Successful completion of all degree requirements
  • Enrolled full-time in nursing courses
  • Passing all courses with a C or better

Reasons for termination of scholarship funds

  • Withdrawing/dropping a course
  • Failure of a course
  • Taking a LOA

Students receiving a Performance Improvement Plan including

  • Violating university policy on academic integrity such as cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized assistance on an assignment/test
  • Violating professional codes of conduct
  • Excessive absenteeism/tardiness

Any student who decelerates from the program due to academic failure may reapply for the scholarship once they have successfully met criteria to enroll in full-time classes. Students are eligible to receive the scholarship for two academic years while at the UIC Nursing–Springfield campus.
