8 UIC Nursing students recognized for campus, community service work
Chancellor’s Student Service and Leadership Awards ceremony recognizes outstanding student leaders, volunteers Heading link
A cohort of UIC Nursing students were honored during the 51st annual Chancellor’s Student Service and Leadership Awards ceremony held Thursday.
Eight College of Nursing graduate and undergraduate students were among the more than 100 UIC student leaders to earn a 2023 Chancellor’s Student Service Award. UIC Nursing recipients included Serenity Gerena, Sangeun Lee, Seo-Yoon Lee, Dominika Machlowska, April Rose Maniwang, Angela Ruan, Maria Zhdan and Annie Zheng.
Four of these students earned additional recognition, receiving nominations for a variety of other CSSLA awards.
Sangeun Lee was nominated for the International Student Ambassador Service Award and the Jane Addams Distinguished Service Award. Seo-Yoon Lee was also nominated for the International Student Ambassador Service Award.
Machlowska and Maniwang were nominees for the Eugertha Bates Memorial Award.
The CSSLA ceremony began in 1973 with the goal of recognizing outstanding student leaders and student volunteers who actively participate in community service projects, student organizations or campus activities, in addition to maintaining high academic achievements.
