Her research has been continually funded for decades with more than $41 million in grants and she was inducted into the Sigma International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2016.

This award was established in memory and recognition of the vast and numerous scientific and clinical contributions made to the field of cardiovascular rehabilitation by the late L. Kent Smith, MD.

The association’s annual meeting will be held Sept. 13-15 in Milwaukee.
