DNP, MS programs climb in new rankings

Standings of both the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program and the Master's program at the UIC College of Nursing rose significantly in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings of graduate schools, released this Tuesday (3/14).

The largest jump was made by the DNP program, which climbed 11 spots to No. 15. The master's program moved up three spots to No. 20.

"Our spot among the top 20 programs is an accurate expression of our distinction as a college," says Catherine Vincent, associate dean of academic affairs. "Rankings serve as a guidepost for students seeking great programs, and we value their ability to help those students find us so we can show them first-hand the excellence reflected in our high rank."

Beyond our overall DNP rank, our specialties in Nursing Administration and Family Nurse Practitioner were ranked No. 8 and No. 11, respectively, in their subcategories. Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner also made their lists at No. 17 and No. 18 respectively.

The rankings are intended to help prospective professional and graduate students research academic programs at different institutions and evaluate the potential return on their investment.
