Rosalba “Rose” Hernandez, PhD, UIC Nursing associate dean for equity and inclusion, was selected for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing 2025 Diversity Leadership Cohort.

The five-month Diversity Leadership Institute allows attendees to develop a diversity plan designed to drive excellence and meet the needs of their respective organizations.

Hernandez says the selection is a “significant honor.”

“It will allow me to build on my existing skill set, implementing high-impact strategies and practices at UIC Nursing to foster meaningful change,” Hernandez says. “This opportunity will enhance my leadership abilities by deepening my self-awareness and expanding my capacity to engage key stakeholders, faculty, students, and staff to collaboratively set and advance DEI-focused strategic goals and initiatives.”

She adds: “Additionally, it will connect me with a cohort of thought leaders in nursing, providing a valuable network to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field.”
