Mariam Mohammed: The best possible ‘me’
body Heading link
I just completed my junior year at the UIC College of Nursing in Springfield and am a first-generation college student from Nigeria. I came to the U.S. when I was 8 years old. My mom brought us here with the hope of a better life. She made one of the hardest decisions, which was to leave everything she knew. With your generous scholarship, I can become what my mom dreamed of—the best possible “me.” She fought so hard to give me this opportunity and with your kindness I can continue to make my mom proud.
I chose to become a nurse because I love working with kids and helping to heal people. I know this sounds cliché but I truly love being able to help people in any way that I can. With my nursing degree I hope to be able to work with kids and become a pediatric nurse.
Because of your scholarship, I am able to continue working toward getting my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Your donation has truly assisted my family and we thank you for your kindness.
