UIC enjoys inspired day of giving
Giving Tuesday 2016, the global day of giving which happens every year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, was a great success across UIC and at the College of Nursing. In our fourth year of celebrating Giving Tuesday, students, faculty and staff across campus came together to donate more than $94,000 on Nov. 29. In total, 722 donors participated (a 14% increase from the previous year) to support scholarships, student programs, fellowships and annual funds.
At the College of Nursing, representatives of student organizations--the Student Nurses Association, the Graduate Student Nurse Organization and the Urban Health Program College of Nursing Student Association--manned the Giving Tuesday tables in the lobby at our Chicago campus. They distributed #UICProud tumblers, hot chocolate and coffee to student, faculty and staff donors. We raised more than $7,700 this year, with the majority of dollars directed to support nursing scholarships and the annual fund. Most excitingly, current students made up the largest donor group in our college this year; 51 students (of 78 total donors) made a contribution.
