About
The overall goal of my program of research is to improve health and quality of life for adults with kidney disease through participation in healthy behaviors.
My clinical experience is the foundation of my research interests and goals. I have over ten years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner, primarily working with individuals with kidney disease. My doctoral work focused on the investigation of physical activity and outcomes in older adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD), culminating in my dissertation which evaluated relationships between cognitive function, vascular function, and sedentary behavior in older adults with preclinical cognitive impairment with and without CKD. My postdoctoral work investigated the influence of physical activity, sedentary behavior, physical function, and frailty on clinical outcomes in adults with CKD. I am currently investigating the feasibility of an intervention to reduce sedentary behavior in adults with CKD.
