About

Dr. Vanderzwan graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Iowa in 2002 and her Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) from UIC in 2006. Clinically she practices in Cardiology and Hospital Medicine. Dr. Vanderzwan joined the UIC Nursing as a Clinical Instructor in 2012, teaching a variety of courses in the BSN and MSN curricula, and completed her DNP at UIC in 2017. Dr. Vanderzwan is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Schwartz Simulation Lab and Clinical Learning Resource Center. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and an active member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). Her areas of scholarship focus on simulation-based education, interprofessional education and deliberate practice of nurse-to-nurse handoff.
