Dr. Shannon D. Simonovich's research program centers on elucidating disparities in perinatal mental health, particularly the relationship between perinatal mood disorders and adverse birth outcomes, such as preterm birth and low birth weight. She collaborates with an interdisciplinary team of scholars dedicated to improving health outcomes and reducing maternal and infant mortality across the United States.
Additionally, Dr. Simonovich has also published works with intradisciplinary colleagues including Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and clinical nursing leaders on topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic, opioid sparing anesthesia, and the leadership and sustainability of the nursing workforce. Her teaching expertise includes research methodology, evidence-based practice, study implementation, and manuscript writing. She is deeply committed to advancing nursing science and mentoring the next generation of nursing leaders.
