A number of administrative and operational support units focus on providing efficient and effective customer service. Each business function is supported by a team of subject matter experts dedicated to providing support for the UIC College of Nursing’s mission.

Team Professional Business Function Expertise Director
Academic Department Administration Our team administers the business of the college’s academic departments in partnership with our faculty and staff colleagues, students, and UIC community. We provide day-to-day administrative operations, strategic planning, standing committee management, APT dossier development, recordkeeping, onboarding and offboarding, department purchasing, and front office management. Administrative Services We are here to help you with unit support (office support, records management, scheduling, mail/shipping/receiving, purchasing, communications), travel arrangements, event support, and administrative support for committees. Our role is to provide customer service and hospitality in the completion of administrative and office support functions for the college. Jason Darwell
Facilities We provide support with building repairs and modifications, security, conference room reservations, equipment inventory, space inventory, life safety, telephones, office moves and reconfiguration, and matching surplus with need. We oversee building maintenance, project management, telephones, inventory, space, life safety, and campuswide facilities resources. Laura Castillo
Faculty Affairs We act as a resource for faculty, administrators and staff, providing access to forms, promotion and tenure policies and procedures, important announcements, and other faculty-related resources and information. We provide active administrative support to cultivate faculty resiliency and resources, and to support an inclusive and welcoming faculty culture. Claire DeConte Karstens
Finance, Data, and Accounting (FDA) We are responsible for budgeting, proforma creation, accounting transactions, accounts receivable, and fund reconciliation. In addition, we pull and analyze data across the college and complete mandatory surveys for internal and external groups. Our role is to integrate data and financial information from across all units in the college and make sure that our resources are used judiciously. This allows executive leadership to make informed decisions and to keep the college viable for the future. Eric McMinoway
Human Resources (HR) We serve college units with talent acquisition, reappointments, performance evaluation, and employee relations, onboarding, leave management, organizational structure, compensation analysis, timesheet review, and business consultation. Nita LeCrone
Information Technology (IT) Our function plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and secure operation of the college's technology infrastructure. IT supports and enables the college's business operations by managing systems, networks, software, hardware, A/V, sim labs, classroom tech, ensuring data security, and seamless connectivity. **Operational efficiency: We ensure that the college technology systems run smoothly, reducing downtime and enabling employees to work efficiently. **Security: We safeguard the college's sensitive information, protecting it from cyber threats and ensuring regulatory compliance. **Strategic advantage: We assist the college in staying competitive by adopting and implementing innovative solutions that align with the college's and university's business goals. Procurement Solutions We are here to help you with purchasing and payables contracts. Our role is to work on more complex transactions, troubleshoot problems, and facilitate collegewide purchases. Carla Pierre Gini
