International Experience Awards

The Virginia M. Ohlson International Endowment Travel Award and the Carroll A.M. Smith Global Health Award

The Virginia M. Ohlson International Endowment Travel Award and the Carroll A.M. Smith Global Health Award exist to help students enrolled in the UIC College of Nursing to travel internationally for the study of nursing abroad.

The Ohlson Award supports graduates and undergraduates; the Smith Award is available only to undergraduates.

With either award, the trip must be related to the student’s current nursing degree program and cannot be used for travel to or within the student’s home country (country of passport).

Funds can be used to reimburse the student for expenses of an experience completed in the past 12 months or to fund an experience planned to be completed by the end of the spring semester of the current academic year. If applying for funds for an upcoming trip, plans must be firmly in place and a projected budget must be presented.

Applications will be available in March.
