Presentation Title
Humanitarian Response to a Global Pandemic: Applying Lessons from Abroad Here at Home
Presenter
Rebecca Singer, DNP, RN, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Population Health Nursing Science
Singer has spent most of her nursing career working with what many would consider the most challenging populations in the most challenging of settings. She has worked with torture survivors, survivors of gender-based violence, refugees, and justice-involved individuals. She has worked in refugee camps, displaced persons camps, and jails and juvenile detention facilities. Her work has taken her to conflict zones, post-conflict zones and the lowest resource settings possible, as well as to all corners of the city of Chicago. Now she is able to take the skills she has garnered in this work to help respond to the COVID-19 global pandemic here in Chicago. Singer will talk about her path through humanitarian response from a global and local perspective.
