Jehad O. Halabi, PhD ’96, was selected as one of 100 nurses in Sigma Europe Region’s celebration of “100 Nurses over the last 100 years.”

In its summer newsletter, the Europe region of the international nursing honor society highlighted 100 nurses “who have each contributed to the nursing profession in education, practice and research,” noting these achievements coincided with huge upheaval in Europe over the last century.

Halabi has “excelled in all aspects of scholarly activities,” according to the newsletter, and her work with the Jordan Nursing Council led to the development of standards of care, research and practice. She helped establish the first college of nursing at Qatar University and has been a leader in transcultural nursing, bringing a global perspective to nursing.

Halabi is a professor at the Qatar University College of Nursing and associate editor for the Journal of Transcultural Nursing. She was selected as a UIC Nursing Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award winner in 2019.
