Illinois Association of School Nurses installs Moss as new leader

UIC Nursing School Nurse Certificate Program director Eileen Moss, DNP ’19, MS ’11, RN, PEL-CSN, NCSN, was installed as the president of the Illinois Association of School Nurses at its 67th annual conference last month.
The Illinois Association of School Nurses promotes wellness and success of school communities by supporting school nurse leaders.
Moss has been a faculty member at UIC Nursing since 2016 and spent more than 20 years in an administrative role in school nursing, specializing in coordinating care for students with complex medical needs and developmental delays. She now heads the UIC Nursing School Nurse Certificate Program, which is designed for bachelor’s prepared registered nurses seeking expertise in the specialty practice of school nursing.
In addition to Moss, the Illinois Association of School Nurses Board of Directors includes several other UIC Nursing faculty: Amanda Sperry, DNP ’23, BSN ’97, RN, PEL-CSN, NCSN, treasurer; Karen Madura, DNP ‘22, RN, PEL-CSN, NCSN, inquiry and innovation chair; and Gloria E. Barrera, MSN, RN, PEL-CSN, past president and foundation liaison.
The conference, “Elevate Your Practice,” brought school nurses from across Illinois together on October 25 and 26 at the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.
