Be a Preceptor
We are grateful for the professional school nurses who volunteer to serve as preceptors for the next generation. Heading link
Precepting a school nurse intern is a wonderful way to support the specialty practice of school nursing and extend your commitment to the better health and education of children. UIC preceptors overwhelmingly relate that precepting is a very personally and professionally rewarding experience.
Preceptor qualifications
- An Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Professional Educators License in School Nursing*
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing
- At least two years of experience in school nursing
*Preceptors for out-of-state students need to hold certification nationally or in the student’s home state.
If you meet the above criteria, please contact Robin Shannon, UIC School Nurse Certificate Program Director, at rshann2@uic.edu. You’ll be glad you did.
